As technology continues to advance, the IT job market is keeps growing. Qualified candidates are in high demand ranging from entry level positions to high level executives. Using a recruiting agency is beneficial not only for the employer but also for YOU, the job seeker. Here are some tips from our recruiters to make sure you get the most out of your recruiting experience.
- Communication is key: Be open and honest with your recruiter. Talk about your previous jobs and be transparent about the type of work you did. Remember that they want to make sure the job they have is going to be a good fit for you based on your experience. If something else comes up after you’ve been submitting to a job (ex. You have accepted a job elsewhere, or you are no longer interested in the position) let your recruiter know! Being able to gauge your level of interest in the position ensures that the you end up in a job you truly want.
- Contacting you recruiter: Don’t be afraid to contact your recruiter with questions or concerns. BUT also remember that the timeline of the hiring process is often out of their hands. When new information comes their way, they will pass it on to you. Unfortunately, calling them multiple times a day won’t speed up the hiring process.
- Taking feedback and advice: It is not unlikely that your recruiter will offer you some constructive feedback. It may be regarding your resume or helping you prep for the interview. Their job is to help you and make sure you are prepared as possible for the job at hand. Remember that a recruiter is working closely with the company that is hiring; they understand what the company is looking for and therefore they know how to best present you as a qualified candidate.
- Staying in touch: You are so much more than just a resume to your recruiter. When you get placed at your dream job they share in your excitement and happiness. Don’t be afraid to reach back out once you have settled into your new job. We love to hear updates and what you are enjoying most about your new job.
Using a recruiter is a simple way to take your job search to the next level. When searching for jobs on your own it can easily become overwhelming. But behind the scenes there are a plethora of jobs that companies give to recruiters that aren’t being posted publicly.
